Oracle Product Hub is used to keep all master item data in centralized manner. This is called Product Hub or Product information management.
Main jobs in PIM are store data in PIM, Approve the item information at different level/role and Publish the approved items.
Data conversion is required for storing data in PIM. Also user can import/export items using excel. Excel needs some configuration during import.../export. Also excel version matters with the PIM application. Oracle provided different APIs for data conversion.
Once items are inserted into the oracle application, Items are went through some approval processes. This approval process is done at different user level
using a standard oracle workflow called NIR(new Item Request).Different roles are defined for approval. After final approval items are published as a batch
to other downstream systems. Different web services are used to get the batch id for the items. Once items are published batch ids are put into a BPEL queue.
Web services process the batch ids from this queue.Simple item webservers is call getitemdetails and complex item/BOM web service call getstructuredetails.
Using integrated SOA gateway this web service need to be configured in PIM or other methods can be followed to invoke the web services.
Change Order workflow is followed with the approval process once attribute data is updated. Approval is required at the item revision level as well.
Publishing item simply means to check the item attribute data by different user from different levels and approve the item with the attribute data.
After Items are published, these items are reached to other downstream system via Fusion. One important downstream systems is Data warehousing where items
comes from PIM and item transaction related information comes from other systems.
